This whole issue highlights how alienated people feel from the Londoncentric politics, and not just Scotland. The whole UK system could do with a shake up, but building fences is never a good idea.

It's an intangible thing... and anyway I don't have that problem, I've not got an estate car, I've got a 2.8 tonne van .Wink

What was pleasing to me was the fact that the vectra got to the scrapy without it collapsing the back of the car.

I don't think it will happen. Wee Eck thinks he will just march into EU, that won't happen. He keeps bleating on about oil, it's not Scotlands oil it's Shetlands oil and we arn't going with Scotland. We have the option to stay with the UK. Going back to Norwegian rule would be a far better option.

Well we do have a very strange system at the moment where Scottish MPs vote on laws which affect England only, yet the reverse cannot happen.
Back in 2004 England got university top up fees, voted in with the help of Scottish MPs.
Still, I suppose it reverses Ian's statement above.

Aye, our present setup re Scottish MP's is wrong.
If the scots think they can make independence work then good, so long as Carlisle doesn't become the new Kashmire with those ridiculous border ceremonies (I am sure someone better than me can put up the link).

S'funny that's how some in the Highlands regard those tos.. er.. um.. top bananas in the Scottish Central Belt Parliament. Where does it stop? Shetland will be claiming it's their oil next.

What?

Oh!

Really?

The only hate is in your mind, no one else mentioned it. I was just pointing out that when english mps want to vote to give us something they can. And brush up on your geography, Carlisle is 10 miles from the border. Unless its afreebie if Scotland does go independent.

I once was asked in French by a very nice coloured French lass if I was colour prejudiced.
As a joke I said I disliked orange people.
She said 'you do not like Irish protestants'.
I gave up, my French wasn't good enough.
To be serious I've always enjoyed the Scottish rally and Applecross but haven't been since 2006.
Must do so again.

"So the Scots' view of England and the English are complex and vary enormously. The range of views testifies to one important fact about the Scots - England matters very much to them. Yet Scotland barely registers on the English horizon. A fact that prompted Alastair Reid to observe that 'of all the grievances nursed by the Scots, none is greater than the fact that the English apparently do not bother to hate back'"

The highlands want independence from the central belt because they didn't support them during the '45.

Glasgow and Edinburgh to set up a border post at Harthill.

Helensburgh announce that they are to be the capital of a new republic - The Ducy of Grand Fenwick.

its going to cost us money
you can be sure of that
german cars will go up in price
so less Audis on the road ( thats a good thing)
I see the welsh voted to leave, pity really as Airbus industries employ a great many people there, and I see the lorries leaving every day. without the freedom to trade it would not surprise me if they pull out of the contract later
old brit gits who have decamped to Spain to retire might will find problems
in fact I hated the idea of coming out of the EU
in my area the ones who were for brexit tended to be mouth breathers, white van men and groundworkers, Sun readers etc
in the yard yesterday they were all going on about leaving, and I asked them where they thought the timber came from ?
Belgium, France, Nederlands Germany
fixings from Germany
in fact an awful lot of the raw materials come from the EU
so I would hazard a guess at the prices rising
the other lot who seemd to want brexit, are the middle class village dwellers who listen to the archers and hate darkies
I find them incredibly racist and its hard for me to bite my tounge when working for them
in the small cotswold villages round here they all have union flags up and brexit posters
the trouble is Nigel Farage appeals to them, he talks the talk and walks the walk
he is the sort fo bloke you meet in a pub, all very impressive and well to do, he then proceeds to buy your car/house telling you he gets a higher price
weeks later you are out on your arse
and his reply no I would never have actually said that, and you knew the risks
anyway my pension is stuffed now so I guess I will keep on working till I drop

Russ, you post on ARRSE. You know what is happening in Germany.
A vote to remain was a vote to endorse what is happening in Germany.
I do not care how much it costs we must do our utmost to stop it.
Thus Leave.
Jon Cogdale has already called me a racist and assumed I and all the others had no coherent reason for leaving. He is wrong. It is the cowards of remain who have only selfish reasons for the way they voted.
As this is on the Scottish Independence thread I will re iterate that I will back them either way but I think staying with the Soft Southern Poofters is the better long run bet.
Perhaps I should start my own party, SSP has a ring about it.

ha ha
I dont think you want to run a political party
you like speaking the truth
thats something that politicians rarely do
I think the biggest problem is that it is all so complicated full stop
perhaps we should have stopped with just the common market all those years ago
i once met mr n forage
strange fellow
but then I also met Boris the blondini
he is very good at being boris the blondini
a very intelligent man
but I had the feeling that he says one thing and does another

What they want to turn it into has to be stopped.
